Happy Holidays! I can’t believe it is almost the new year. May 1, 2018 will be the start of 1st Rate Pet Services 6th year in business. Time has flown since we started this and we are excited to be growing and expanding our services beginning in 2018.
For starters, I want to THANK our wonderful customers for trusting us to care for your beloved pets. Second, I want to thank the awesome team of pet sitters we have who do a great job with the pets in our care.
Since we started this business, our top priorities have been to be honest, dependable and trustworthy. We have been active members in Pet Sitter’s International, which is an educational association for professional pet sitters. We keep our business insurance and bond up to date, as well as our license as a business with the state of Florida.
When I found out earlier this year there was a certification program for pet sitters, I immediately considered it. Fast forward to this month and I have taken the exam and am now officially a Certified Professional Pet Sitter.
Hello….it’s pet sitting…you let the dog out to potty and feed the cat. It’s not that big of a deal. Why become certified in pet sitting?
Becoming certified in anything shows an interest in being professional and adhering to industry standards of excellence. It shows commitment to continually improving personal and professional knowledge.
Even though Don and our other sitters haven’t taken the exam, we have established a “best practices” protocol based on the information. By sharing the knowledge I gained from studying for the certification exam, and by continuing to stay updated and educated in the industry, we can assure that 1st Rate Pet Services adheres to and excels above those standards.
As we go into the new year, we will continue to offer in your home pet sitting, dog walking, pet taxi and pooper scooping as we have been. Don and I recently joined an essential oils company and are taking classes through the Essential Oil Institute to become certified. We are really enjoying learning how to replace toxic cleaners and other products we have been using with much safer products made with essential oils.
As we learn more, we will be offering products and conducting classes how to use oils with pets. We will also be using the oils in the new eco-friendly cleaning service we will begin offering in 2018.
Don has also been hard at work building us a new website that is more “mobile” friendly. He was frustrated with not being able to get our current one to look right on mobile devices, so started from scratch. I’m not sure when the new site will be done, but just wanted to let you know it will be changing sometime.
The phone numbers, emails and website address will be the same, as will the scheduling system, so you shouldn’t have any trouble scheduling visits or contacting us.
We love to hear from you. If there are any questions, or suggestions, feel free to contact us or leave a comment below.
